Justin founded Murray & Company in 2004 upon returning to NZ after 9½ years as an investment banker in London.

Justin has ultimate management responsibility for Murray & Company; is closely involved in advising clients and executing transactions in all aspects of Murray & Company's business; and reports to the firm's governance entities and regulators.

Prior to founding Murray & Company, Justin was an investment banker in London. From 1999 until 2004 he was a Managing Director at Bear Stearns International in London where he was responsible for arranging derivative transactions for corporates, private equity funds and hedge funds.

He commenced his investment banking career in London in 1995 with NM Rothschild & Sons where he was involved in a range of significant corporate finance transactions from Hanson's GBP 2.5bn takeover of Eastern Electricity to the Spanish Government's US$ 4.4bn placement of its residual equity holding in Telefonica.

Justin attended the University of Canterbury in Christchurch (New Zealand) where he completed a Bachelor of Laws in 1992. In 1993 he was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand. He spent 2 years as a lawyer with law firm Kensington Swan in their corporate department, before moving to London.

Justin is an accredited NZX Adviser and is a member of the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand Inc. He was approved by the UK Financial Services Authority as a Corporate Finance Representative in 1995 and as a Securities and Financial Derivatives Representative in 1997.

Justin is also on the Board of Trustees of the Christchurch Symphony Foundation and is a Fellow of the Board of Governors of Christ's College.
